These brilliant folks, who are all my dearest friends now. are on the ground making it happen, day to day, week to week, helping fellow kinmates make the most of their time in Lotro. Den Mothers - Cassiopia Tylann Yuxia - Sept 29, 2007 - Kin/Den/Guild mother/advisors. If you have a problem consult one of them. One of our moms will either provide a solution or guide you to the appropriate officer, great for new/old kin to have someone to approach that they trust and can confide in

History

I know all my officers know this, because I brag about how great they are before each one of our meetings, but not sure I have told everyone in the guild how thankful, and greatful I feel to have stumbled into such a wonderful group of people. Against all odds, and to the saddened destressed naysayers, you guys have created, or are creating the best guild there has probably ever been, ever.... Never has there been a guild of this size with so many nice people all in one place. Never has there been a game that has attracted such a mature player base such as LoTRo. Never has there been a kinship or guild that has grown seemingly out of no where in such a short period of time and become so well known as we have. We are friendly to other guilds, and as highly respected. As other guilds fight with each other, internally and externally, we just happily exist..... as just a nice place to vist, to relax, and just know there might be a few other nice people which happen to know, who may be wandering in the same direction as you are..... We broke all the rules, we invited everyone, we have very limited rules, we have no age limits, and all we really ask is for everyone to take care of and respect each other.... yes we have had a few bumps in the road, a few people that wanted to make us just like another guild, and a few who just waned to break us apart for their own personal gain (whatever that was, never spent the time to ask)... never the less, we are here, we are maturing..... and if it wasn't for YOU.... it might have never happened. So thank you, doesn't even begin to tell you how much I really care about each and everyone of you, and how very proud I am of what you are about to become a part of, a really neat thing.

RUNIC KNIGHTS - 3yrs old

RUNIC KNIGHTS - March 31 2007

The RUNIC KNIGHTS started March 31 2007, as two lost souls , Meldor and Taolin,  trying to figure out a new game, Lord of the Rings Online. Our only real motto, if you help me I'll try to help you. We are all new, we approach the game to be casual, friendly, and just try and help each other. Who would have ever figured we would be FULL after only 30 days. To accomodate a few new people, we need some method of trimming old inactive users. If you have not logged into LotRo as your MAIN or one of your ATLs in 60 days, there is a chance you might have your character temporarily removed, until we can add you back again.

    • The kinship is founded on the belief that a Runic Knight must first and foremost find enjoyment in their pursuits within the game. The kinship strives to assist its members in their individual and collective goals.

Only the beginning
NOTE: This message was written 14 months ago Mar 2009

I feel its time again to say something memorable, and what comes to mind is the old song that says "Only the beginning, what I want to feel forever, yeah, Only the beginning, only just the start" .. and almost exactly 2 years ago, I gathered RK's small group of officers (of which many still exist today and are known as our Elders, Kings of the Round Table, or Sr Officers, and I told them...... "Today 25% of our kin left to join another kin, but its ok "...... (that was a year ago now)
--- Summer 2007, West Bree Lawn - Greetings fellow officers, I know we are a new kin, and we are a big kin, currently max'd out at 1000 wonderful members, and our only goal in life so far has been to say, bring us your poor, your weak, your young, your old. RK will take anyone, and give them a chance. Now of course, they must live within our very simple rules, but when they walk in our doors, their life starts a new and they can be as famous as they want with us, or as infamous as they want if they then choose to go their own way... We are about to become something very special, for now you''ll have to trust me when I say, this, but we are about to do something, become something that no one in the gaming world has ever seen before, and probably alot more that I cannot even imagine right now..... but we will become the first huge social guild/kinship/clan whatever in a virtual world that will successfully mix a social group and a hard core raiding group into the same kin, and still make our huge size something that might feel like a small town, or maybe even a family.....
NOTE: See hoe far we have come - rklotro.com -
the living dream

--- Well now we can look back and proudly say, we not only have successfully met Meldor's lofty (Seemingly impossible*) goals of the above, but two years later we have become so so much more, not only are we a family in a game, but we are a family in real life, and historically this family is not geographically bound to the real world we live in, we virtually exisit, in our own virtual reality, as a tight nit, similar thinking entity, that has grown, had struggles, grown closer, overcame challenges, and now we are almost grown up, and maybe ready to expand our thoughts into even greater things within our family, but maybe even streaching out our wings into places, not even Meldor forsaw way back when.... with a very small group of 10 officers, sitting in a circle, on West Bree Lawn... Be prepared, Meldor has been planning again... very quietly, but making really grandious plans that are gonna take us ........ well... for now... trust me..... its only the beginning Smile thanks Meldor

HAVE FUN.

Lord Of the Rings Free to play?

Lord Of the Rings Free to play?
Is this a good thing or not?   - VOTE HERE -

Teldrassil says ....... I have a lifetime subscription to Lotro. I hope, as they have said, that my account will not lose anything and will gain full perks. I played DDO just to see what it was about and did not see anything in the DDO store that sparked my interest enough to buy with the points I had earned. One good thing I saw was that the free accts can purchase from the AH but can not post, and many will not be able to craft either. That will help offset the cost of leveling crafting, i think. Instead of going free to play I wish the Devs would have done more with making the game less grindy and crafting less tedious. Lotro is a stunning game imho but I find myself sitting and just gazing at the screen uninterested and uncertain about what to do next. I recently went back to playing WoW (never inactivated acct there) and Blizzard has added a very nice feature-The Dungeon Finder. IMO something like that would add a lot of "bling" to Lotro.

Spraynard says ...... Voted no. I can't see this being a good thing. All you have to do is look at two things that will likely happen: More young people. (sorry...I'm pretty cynical about this)  Item shops.  In my experience, the first ruins a community, the second ruins a game. I'm not happy about this at all, especially considering the announcement occurred only a few days after I bought a 3-month subscription. I canceled it yesterday, actually. I think I'll keep playing until the game becomes free to play simply because it is so incredibly fun. That's what makes this so much harder.

Guest says ....My vote is Yes, but some reservation. Everything evolves. Businesses always go through phases where they think the next best answer is in the cow patch in the next meadow until they find out there are just as many cowpies there as they see in their own cow meadow. Meaning simply, FTP will have its benefits but its downside too. My biggest concern is for future kinship recruiting. Meldor and the officers roughly recruit 100 new members a month to our kin. So are they going to draw from the FTP pool of players for this? If so? Then how will that effect our kin community? If not? Then how are we going to discern kin recruits?  The lifeblood of any kinship is recruiting. Kill that and you kill the kinship in time. I am sure Meldor is well aware of this as he is very diligent week after week purging and recruiting constantly. So here is my suggestion:  When the FTP goes live, I think we should go on as business as usual to the most part. Embrace the FTPers, however, as a blacnket policy I would extend the kin promotion period to 4 weeks to give the kin more time to find out if the new recruit is going to be an asset to our community or not. By asset I simply mean obey our rules and contribute to our kinship community in a healthy manner.  The reason for the longer wait period is because FTPers are not really that committed to the game yet at lower levels. They haven't paid anything and the likelyhood of them quitting in the first 30 days is much higher.  I am sure Meldor and the officer core have already thought about these issues. i am just tossing out my 2 cents on the subject. Thank you for your attention.

The Runic Knights are a kindred kinship

The Runic Knights are a kindred kinship

  • The Runic Knights are a kinship of over 1400 members. Founded during open beta of The Lord of the Rings Online, RK has grown and flourished on the Brandywine server to become one of the most respected and recognized icons within the realm. The kinship is led by Meldor and Hestah. He has delegated rights and responsibilities to a number of Senior Officers and Officers. Should you need to contact a Runic Knight, feel free to get a hold of one of the Senior Officers in game. The Runic Knights hit 1000 Members in the first month of existance. So essentially we are FULL. In the Runic Knights, you are part of a Kinship, not just a solo player with a kin name attached. If you join our kinship you are part of our family; we care about, and we have a few simple rules. Have Fun, No Whining, Respect Others, and limited cursing.

Still have questions? Here’s a quick FAQ about the key points of LOTRO Free-to-Play:

Is this the same model you used with DDO?

I already subscribe to LOTRO. Is there any benefit to staying a subscriber?

Of course! Once the game goes live you’ll keep all your current privileges, and also accrue 500 free Turbine Points per month to spend as you wish. We also have a set of Loyalty Reward Special Offers just for our veteran players – as long as you maintain your subscription in good standing you may be eligible for up to 3,000 points. If you stay active over the summer you will also earn an additional bonus of 500 Turbine Points per month until launch! Lifetime members may also qualify for a special one-time Loyalty Reward of 1,000 Turbine Points. See the Loyalty Reward Special Offer Terms & Conditions for full details.

I am a LOTRO Founder. What will Free-to-Play mean for me?

You will automatically receive 500 Free Turbine Points every month and you can spend them at your leisure in the LOTRO Store. Founding members may also qualify for a special one-time Loyalty Reward of 500 Turbine Points. See the Loyalty Reward Special Offer Terms & Conditions for full details.

Start by registering at www.lotro.com/betasignup. We’ll select entrants from that list once beta starts.

I’m an existing customer. How do I sign up for the Beta?

Existing subscribers do not need to register to apply for the beta – we’ll randomly invite subscribers who have been active in the last 30 days and have an account in good standing throughout the beta. If you wish to register at www.lotro.com/betasignup that will count as an extra entry and may increase your chance of being selected for participation.

Is there any way to increase my chance of getting into the beta?

Sure! Follow us on Twitter and Like us on Facebook! We’ll give out special beta entry codes to our fans via social media - so give yourself the best chance of getting in and make sure to keep an eye on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

The time is coming RK

We are reintroducing Raids to RK

I have seen many in game and on the forums who are slowly getting interested back in raiding, (for some like myself the interest never left). We are reintroducing raiding into RK! It will be a Social raid group. NOT Hardcore. There will not be DKP used.  Once I have lined out the rules, and get everything posted you will see the thread for raiding. That's all I'm going to post for now, I'd like to see everyone that has posted interest signing up for the various runs, from Rift/Hele all the way up to DG! For those who have been raiding with me in the past yall know how I raid. We get the job done and we have fun! For those that don't know how I raid, hope to see you soon Wink

        Attention RK Mart Shoppers

        Shop Smart, Shop RK Mart.

Hi there, I'm Pax your RK Mart store Manager. We have a few rules to follow when requesting gear, so please read on. Please have patience when ordering gear, I cannot stress this enough. We have 2 full time crafters that have alts and varied play times. Remember, we are the Runic Knights, we have the max number of characters in the game mostly and to build gear for 1500 toons, gets a bit rough sometimes. There will be a few new crafters brought on, but remember to be polite and don't crowd the crafter...we're skiddish in large crowds...  Thank You Very Much.  -Pax

        • 1) Gear can only be ordered by Runic Knight Members in good standing.
        • 2) At this time Recruits on the two week probation period cannot order gear, but will recieve a complimentary item of their choice(normal crit, non shard) as a add on to the Welcome Wagon service we offer.
        • 3) RK Mart has discontinued it's tier 1 crafting program. Due to lack of space and demand we have had to make some cutbacks.
        • 4) RK Mart still relies on your donations of unwanted crafting materials and criticals. At this time, we are only accepting tier 2-6 materials due to space and demand.

Announcement - 911's official group building forum

911 - The Runic Knights Help Team

This forum is our attempt to provide a place to help you find groups with other people in kin. We know with so many people in kin who aren't always on at the same time, it can be difficult to organize groups sometimes, particularly if you have limited play time. Don't worry - there are lots of other people like you, and typically they will be wanting to do a lot of the same things as you do Smile  Treat it like a LFF, you say what you are planning on running, when you are around, and anyone who is interested posts. Then you can organize your group.
